How To Style A Jumpsuit

A knock out dress is the first thing that comes to mind when I need to shop for a special occasion but there are days when I can't be bothered to throw on something frilly and flouncy and that's when I rely on a jumpsuit.

Not a lot of people are game for wearing this one piece, as they can be a little intimidating if not worn correctly and can make you look sloppy or infantile. But when properly executed you can achieve stellar results and get the same head turning looks you would from a fancy dress.

Here are some points to review and keep in mind while putting together a jumpsuit outfit.

1. Find The Perfect Fit:

Finding a jumpsuit that fits your body perfectly is the absolute key to looking stylish. Anything too tight will make you feel uncomfortable and something too loose will make you completely lose your figure.

2. Define Your Waist:

I cannot emphasise enough the point of not losing your curves. Cinching your jumpsuit with a belt at the waist is a great way to add some feminity to your look and give you a curvy figure. A stylish belt will also add some dimension to your outfit if you are wearing a plain solid coloured one piece.

3. Pair It With A Blazer:

I love adding dimensions to my outfit in a minimal yet classy manner! Adding a blazer to your outfit is an easy way to make your outfit look more formal. When selecting a jacker make sure you pick one that fits well, is of the correct length and goes with the occasion. You can pick colours that are similar to your jumpsuit or contrasting it depending on the look you want to achieve.

4. Pick The Correct Shoes:

I would almost always recommend wearing heels especially if you are wearing a wide leg jumpsuit. Flats or sandals will make you look sloppy and short as wide leg jumpsuits tend to  overpower your frame. Skinny heels match perfectly with jumpsuits but if you aren't comfortable wearing them you can opt for low heeled pumps as well.

5. Start With A Solid Coloured Jumpsuit:

If you aren't comfortable rocking a jumpsuit you can ease into them by opting for a solid coloured one. A single coloured piece will have a slimming and elongating effect on your body. Gradually, you can begin to experiment by adding splashes of colours, patterns and combining eye catching accessories to complete your look.
