Oscar de la Renta knew the way to a woman's heart and he continued to prove it with each collection he churned out; especially his last Spring collection shown in early September, it was one of his best. Set against a backdrop of flowers it had the most intricately made dresses in fabrics from gingham to broderie anglaise and of course, the winning ensemble of the show: a golden sequin bandeau with a matching ball skirt embroidered with ostrich feathers.
Oscar passed away on Monday at his home in Kent, Connecticut after a long battle with cancer. He was 82 years of age. Just like his last collection, Oscar's life was a tapestry of rich and royal hue, an everlasting vision of the ever changing view. Fondest farewell, Mr. Oscar de la Renta.
